Adam Welch is an Emmy Award-winning Cinematographer, 1st Assistant Camera, and Focus Puller with more than 15 years of experience across narrative film, documentary, commercial, television, and broadcast production. His career combines visual storytelling with deep technical camera experience, allowing him to approach filmmaking from both the creative perspective of a cinematographer and the technical precision of the camera department.

As a cinematographer, Adam collaborates with directors and creative teams to translate ideas into compelling images through lighting, composition, lensing, exposure, and camera movement. His extensive camera department experience gives him a practical understanding of the tools and workflows required to execute a visual approach efficiently on set.

As a 1st Assistant Camera and Focus Puller, Adam brings that same understanding of cinematography to supporting Directors of Photography and camera operators. His experience includes camera prep and builds, lens management, focus pulling, wireless follow-focus systems, wireless video and monitoring, equipment organization, troubleshooting, and maintaining efficient camera workflows throughout production.

Throughout his career, Adam has worked on feature documentaries, television series, commercials, live productions, and award-winning short films. His credits include The Pope's Visit to Iowa, Tractor Wars, Our Great State Fair, Meredith Willson: America's Music Man, Historic Buildings of Iowa, Iowa Life, Road Trip Iowa, Studio 3 Live, and A&E's Interrogation Raw. His work has also contributed to multiple Regional Emmy Award-winning productions at Iowa PBS.

Leadership and collaboration are equally important to Adam's approach. His experience overseeing projects from concept through final delivery, leading crews, and working across departments has strengthened his ability to communicate clearly, anticipate production needs, and solve problems calmly in fast-moving environments.

His background in documentary storytelling, military public affairs, commercial production, and narrative filmmaking has prepared him to adapt to productions of every size. Whether serving as the Cinematographer or working within the camera department, Adam approaches each project with preparation, professionalism, collaboration, and a commitment to creating the strongest images possible.
